well that link worked. can i just tell you i seem to get pics sent to me when i am wearing the rod stewart shirt. this pic is from Julien's friend from the toulouse show. i told tony and peggy on the phone i am having a biche of a time trying to write a tour diary. it just seems too overwhelming. let's talk about england first. i wrote after brighton i think. fish and chips on the pier and a quick radio show with claire kember. it was very high energy that nite, first show of the tour and all. saw colin and adey from vermont and then after the show we all left to go to anna and didie and antony and patrick's house in the country. kimya caught one of their chickens and kissed it on the head. i took a hot bath in a tub where i could stretch out my legs. i fell down the stairs after my bath. that was when matt informed kimya and rosie and michal i was really clumsy. ha. they ain't seen nothin' yet. glasbury, wales was a drive from brighton. this fellow lou came with us as he lived in glasbury but was at the brighton show and needed a ride. when we got there we ate of course. pasta and little cakes though not welsh cakes (boo) the venue was a community center. a girl poured hot wax on matt's sweatshirt . kimya made the kids form a human pyramid (twice) and then dance in circles with her. we saw a roadkill badger on the side of the road. Bristol kicked ass in the fanny. it was a blast. like a theatre show or a talent show or some kind of show where everyone is sitting down. i was super nervous but i liked matt & i working off each other so much. quirky and room to stretch out. i wore camilla's drum apron. after bristol where all of us learned to knit, including matt, we stole camilla from the HERE shop for the rest of our tour. our liverpool show was nutty fun. i think this one was where kimya played spin the bottle with everyone, or was that leicester? lots of LLLL towns. leeds was sort of off for matt & i. having some snippy moments on stage. felt wierd. hope it wasn't totally wacko. but ah well. i was going to apologize but you know, we were where we were. came through on the other side of it much better. as my acting teacher in college used to say "theatre is a communicative and collaborative art". and so is schwervon! the rest of the L towns were superfun, especially london where michal and i did our dancing white nights duet to "Parade". i was giddy that nite. and also sad to say bye to rosie and michal and camilla. michal and rosie make the best vegan food and our week with them was our healthiest i have to say. they bought me BROCCOLI, when i said i had a hankering. i mean come on. make room for more! AFter london we ate beans on toast at adey's (adey you are the best. thanks for helping us out so much and being the sweet adey you are) and woke up at 7am to drive to strasbourg with our new driver Arnaud, who sort of looks like one of the guys in zz top. after we made it out of london (getting lost of course) we got a flat tire about an hour from the chunnel. 3 hours on side of the road freezing and having to pee and calling roadside assistance. i made matt go with me for the urination mission. i was laughing hysterically that my pants were down with cars whizzing by as i was right behind the guardrail. i couldn't do it. i had to climb up a mountain side in the snow slipping in my converse sneakers till i could find a thorny pile of branches to hide behind. ah much better. i think kimya may have peed by the side of the van or she held it for 14 hours i will never know. she has a very strong bladder. we listened to beck a lot in the van. roadside assistance came and changed the tire, however, we were running really late and had to stop in lille to pick up our backline and also cds and then head on to strasbourg. luckily it was a friday nite and they were willing to wait for us. we arrived at 11pm...after some kid in a scarf hopped in our van to show us the way to venue and i basically carried drums down a spiral staircase into a packed hot room, set up, and matt & i played. it was crazy. everyone was in good spirits. i yelled "woo!" just to egg them on every other song. thanks micke for such a fun nite! micke had flyers about the colmar tapes - which prewar and turner cody and herman dude did last spring. it will be out in may...it was so awesome to hear prewar playing on the club speakers! we got to stay in a hotel too. and i saw martin, who is a friend of vermont, and matt and i were so happy to see him. back in a flash. more french morsels to tide you over soon.
