the metallica movie was quite good.

i am not a huge fan of their music. but i think they are pretty brave and interesting after watching them in band therapy. to allow themselves to be that vulnerable when they're known for being balls out angry tough guys---i thought it was pretty cool. lars and james were sort of like a couple. they were the ringleaders and the initiators in the band and they had the most tension with each other too. some of the things they said to each other reminded me of being in a relationship. lars was trying to mirror james and it was so awesome because i've had those moments....where you're trying really hard not to take something personally cause you know intellectually it's about the music but you're taking it like it's about your entire person, and then you take a breath and say, "okay, what i hear you saying is that....blah blah". lars and me! we shared a moment!

i was giggling through the entire movie and i want to see it again.

i am utterly fascinated with their

old habits of communication vs. how they are learning to communicate. i can relate to that.

in other news matt & i played a brunchtime show at pianos yesterday. they played surfer movies behind us and dan fishback said we play total surf music. i think he is right because me and the floor tom share something special. and we played "undertow" twice (cause we thought our first set of four songs was our actual set when it was just the soundcheck and it would take too long to explain so let me just say we played one song TWICE amidst all that confusion).

some beers and pizza later....

jen knee played with firstpersontoseeanelephant and she was very good i wanted her to stay up and drum with them. purty songs in a longing romantic purty song waves of guitar way.

tonite is solo set at c note. oh lordy. i know i'm playing new keys song and let's be bad w/ shark. other than that it may be a surprise to me too.

over and out.
