this is what i did this weekend
i am pressed for time so i must make a list.
first let me say i had a mini-brie & tomato sandwich for lunch and it knocked my socks off.
right.
now to my list:
desc arrived thursday nite. we fed them pesto pasta and beer. they slept.
friday i worked. then we got stuff ready for the show.
whole show was super fun good seeing friends vibe low key in a way but also energizing.
prewar is brilliant with jack lewis on bass. they were brilliant before but it's like he accentuates their songs in a simple but powerful way.
matt & i played psychadelicate with them and i loved it. dina had to look at me and tell me when to sing the bridge. i loved that too. spontaneous performing is really exciting to me.
then desc played a gorgeous cello-filled pretty angel-voiced set. helena is drop dead gorgeous. actually the whole band is rather good looking. alun in his suit. he reminds me of a graceful cat.
me & matt played after them and i gotta say something about sidewalk really makes me chatty cause we're so close to the audience it's like a basement party. i also get self-conscious at times with such intimacy but then maybe that is a reason to practice in intimate spaces more...hmm.
alun played holy cat with us. made me happy.
this is not a list this is rambling now.
saturday matt & i made everyone breakfast and then we went to the mermaid parade in coney island. matt didn't attend sat & sun activities cause he was working with the snap pusher band.
hot hot sun.
cold beer. fries. ice cream. feet in water for a solid hour. nice.
then we went to prospect park for free neil young tribute concert to see cat power. sat outside bandshell in grass and had a picnic of chips and salsa and beer.
then home and falling over with exhaustion.

then sunday i took them to st. dymphas in east village for brunch so they could get a proper breakfast though poor helena was not happy with her veggie salad. then walking around hot hot sun to find an adapter for uk laptop. could not find. then dropped one half of gang at sidewalk to meet other half of gang and left to lie down and then meet yoko to write our june song which we did at cafe pick-me-up and it really did pick me up. yoko wore pink tights which i thought were very cute.
we walked to flea market. then to sidewalk (AGAIN!) to see her rap in scotland zeif's band Rare Heat. Then magically DESC appeared at the end of their set and we sat outside and then some of us walked home and i fell over again with exhaustion.
woke up today. matt & i went to a cafe before work. i'm at work now about to leave. and tonite desc is playing at cb's. think i will have a lie down.
