Goldmund (matt's friend from London who used to work with him at Tower Records back in the mid 90's) called Matt at 7am today. Luckily I had my alarm set for 7:05am. They were working out details to meet up when matt goes over there. TOMORROW!

It snuck up on me so quickly. wah!

So far this week is already full on my calendar, with the show on thursday and practice with yoko on wednesday and hang out with major tonite and friday sharky pantsuit lite practice.

must have free time over the weekend. i want to work on some new stuff...

and you know, rest.

show last saturday was exciting. lots of folks and big sound and party vibe and snap pusher tore down the house kiss loves you style and wooden ghost was a walk on the psychadelic moon in their headbands. i sweated a lot.

matt broke a string on "something else" but i think it made the song sound better during the improv breakdown. all discordant WIERD but somehow right.

had nerves on and off with crampy hand but have figured out if i keep breathing and moving that muscles relax...

"i move to keep things whole"

-mark strand

yes what he said.

Pammer's bbq before the show was so relaxing and i would like one every saturday afternoon thank you. I ate so many meat products. sort of grossed myself out except it was so yummy.

Sunday went to practice prince song w/ matt & sharky and then to rachel's bbq which was super pleasant out in the cool nite air and the trees smelled good and there was fresh fruit and beer and cake and the grill was going till late. had a veggie burger at this one.

monday i didn't go to work. i learned more specifically matt's role in doing oj orders so i can take over while he's gone....also we did some psuit mixing.

we took a long walk. went to knitting factory and heard nicole schneict and c.o.b. and babyskins.

nicole schneict has a husky gorgeous cat power-like voice and she strums acoustic guitar and has a sometimes drummer boy hitting the skins in that simple way that has a lot of technique behind it i can tell by his arms. he hit the rim and floor tom a lot too. love!

the thing i like about Nicole is that her songs have a spareness to them. you can get inside them and walk around. there's enough stillness around the music to take in the core of the song. what the hell am i talking about? I feel like I could show you with my arms, but it's hard to put into words. she sang about mountains a lot. "throwing knives at the mountain".

"washed up on the shore of the mountain"....

i bought both her cds. with mountain songs and broken heart songs.

c.o.b. gave another inspired theatrical performance and i had no idea their mandolin player could drum.

dan made dibs play guitar and he was free to shimmy and work off sarah more which i enjoyed. i like it when bands look at each other and have these shared experiences on stage and collapse into fits of giggles and who knows what will happen?

c.o.b. is great at spontaneity. they roll with whatever happens and you can tell they get a kick out of it.

have had "kitosis" in my head for 2 days now. I thought about it when I had bread this morning. I started singing, "you look like me and i'm dead sexy..."

heh.

also babyskins.

new songs. sad ones. yes! it was so good to hear them sing again--voices blending so well i had trouble figuring out who was who at times. you could hear a pin drop during their set.

they make me wanna play slow sad songs.

or maybe i just want to hear their slow sad songs over and over.
